Some very exciting news – Terran’s G-tube surgery date was moved up from Dec 2 to Oct 28!! It’s a Halloween miracle! 🎃 👻 We’ll stay at the hospital one night, learn how to care for and operate the G-tube, wait a couple days for healing, and then start using it. Then we’ll be free to truly breastfeed and relieve him of bloating discomfort. Today, Walker & I run through a standard list of things when he’s upset (diaper, position, etc.) but so far we can’t solve his hunger pains. There’s light at the end of the tunnel, little man!
In the meantime, we’re enjoying watching Terran grow every day. He’s going through his second “developmental leap” where he is becoming aware of “patterns”. It’s definitely a more obvious change than the first leap “sensations”. Now Terran’s movements are smoother and more purposeful. My favorite is probably his full body stretch when he’s released from a swaddle. 😊 He smiles more now and is starting to “talk back” and take part in conversations. He’ll get bored if he’s in the same spot for too long, as if to say, “OK I got this part of the world, what else is there?” A new favorite hang out spot is under his outer space mobile (credits to Hanako for making it)!
We’re having fun with Halloween costumes! We barely caught a picture in his pumpkin outfit before a spit up haha 😂 The NASA outfit lasts a little longer between washes (he must like it better). Terran’s Seahawks onesie and bib are always picked on Sundays, and he’s actually starting to “watch” the games with us now. 💙💚
Outfits with snaps are the best for allowing the line to exit, and so Nana has been helping to modify some zipper onesies to snap-style. It’s hard to stay on top of this growing boy! He’s so much bigger than he was even a couple weeks ago! The LIFT team increased his TPN calories and the recipe was finally right to fit everything into one bag, which cut our evening TPN time in half! Not only that but the steps that were cut out were line connections which are some of the higher infection-risk steps. Safer and quicker? Yes, please!
Amazing rapid development. He seems to be a very curious young man.
It is amazing to see how he has grown! Halloween is such a fun time, enjoy every minute. Happy to hear that G tube has been moved up. Anything that make life better and easier for you and Terran is great news. Thanks so much for the updates and all of the wonderful pictures. Much love to all, Ellen
